Foundation

Back in the FFG days there were very active local-ish metas on both US coasts and in the UK. These were highly competitive and would prepare specifically for worlds. While there were also highly competitive Netrunners throughout continental Europe, those that went to worlds and wanted to prepare for it found it difficult to find local people to do so with. Thus NWE was born as a testing group for non-US, non-UK netrunner prepping for worlds. Originally that stood for North-West-Europe (funnily enough, since it didn’t include UK, which is more north-west than the countries it did include), but since then people from Eastern or Southern Europe or even Australia joined. So now NWE is just an acronym without any definite meaning behind it (NBN sends its regards).

Since then the focus of NWE has shifted a lot. Nowadays it is much more just a group of friends that likes to hang out together and sometimes plays Netrunner, mostly when big Events like Worlds 2023 are at the doorstep.

“Testing” “Process”

Due to being a very international group, almost all testing happens online via discord. The NWE classic testing consists of 2 people playing a game and ~10 people sitting in voice, watching the game and commenting and critiquing every single action. Apart from that Pinsel and TugtetguT smurf on jnet casual when they have some ideas and then post some crazy decklists in the discord.

Applications

Mostly just being around and vibing with the group. Playing together at Team Tournaments was highly inductive for that in the past.
